Kids Characters
If you pick our Spark of Magic Kids Show, you’ll be prompted to select a character for Alexis to play: a fairy, pirate, clown, mermaid, or top hat magician.
The Spark of Magic Kids Show is the same every time but, with costumed characters Alexis plays, it can be customized to your event.
The kids characters (and the Spark of Magic Kids Show) are typically enjoyed by both boys and girls ages 3-9 years old.

Oasis the Good Witch
If you pick strolling magic with Oasis, you can expect magic tricks inspired by potions, alchemy, and fairy tales.
Oasis, a character played by our actress and magician Alexis, will come in flowing, textured clothing similar to what you might expect in a desert festival or forest cabin.
Strolling Potions Magic with Oasis is great for the whole family including adults, and we love it the most for events with a very mixed-age audience.

Other Options
Don’t want a costumed character?
Alexis is a versatile and talented artist who can come to your party without a costume (for example, if you pick a face painting or balloon twisting package with no magic show) or for other types of entertainment like stilt walking (as seen above) or foam parties.
When you contact us, you’ll be able to ask for as many custom quotes as you like for a huge variety of entertainment with Alexis. From there, you can build your own party!

How To Book a Magician for Kids Party CT, MA, RI, NH
Unlike our other magical experiences, strolling magicians don’t need any stage or sound. All of their magic is done up-close and inside of the crowd!
That said, there are a few suggestions we have that will make hiring a magician a lot easier.
1. Pick the magical experience that best suits your audience’s age and interest. Click here to learn the difference between Oasis’s two magic packages: the Spark of Magic Kids Show and Strolling Potions.
2. Pick a costume. Depending on which package you choose, you’ll have character options. Scroll up on this page for photos!
3. Pick on any add-ons you want. Both the Spark of Magic Kids Show and Strolling Potions come with additional add ons such as face painting, balloon twisting, and henna tattoos. Learn more here.
4. Make a plan to pay. If your magician comes in character, they don’t want to break it! You can either pay in advance or pay electronically upon their arrival so you don’t have to hand your magical entertainer a check in front of anyone (and break the magic).
An Interview with Oasis: Face Painter, Balloon Twister, and Magician for Hire
Is Oasis your real name?
It’s not! My name’s Alexis, and Oasis is one of the characters I portray at Kaleidoscope. With my background in theater, I wanted to create a truly immersive experience with my strolling magic – kind of like bringing the stage directly to the audience. I thought introducing a character would help me achieve that.
Her name was inspired by the idea that my goal as a magician is to give everyone a drop of something magical and good, even on a bad day–or especially on a bad day! I also do potions magic, so I thought the liquid theme was fitting.
What was the inspiration for your character Oasis?
Kaleidoscope has fantastic magicians for kids parties in CT, but I wanted to bring something new to the table. The concept of potions magic intrigued me because I grew up reading a lot of young adult fantasy novels. I decided to put a unique spin on it, aiming for a more “festival” vibe instead of the traditional “magic castle” theme.
I think Oasis and her magic help guests feel like they’ve stepped into a different world, but it’s done in a way that’s approachable for everyone.
What makes Oasis different from other magicians for kids parties?
One standout difference is definitely the potions magic, but it’s also how Oasis interacts with guests that sets her apart from typical strolling magicians.
At events, people often come up to me with questions, which isn’t something the other magicians usually experience since they typically have to approach guests. I think Oasis’s approachable costume or maybe the fact that I’m a female magician makes me more approachable. But beyond that, my goal is to make guests feel like they’ve wandered into a “side quest” in a story or video game. There’s a lot of storytelling woven into my performances, which makes it a truly unique experience.
What’s next for Oasis?
Oasis began as a storytelling, strolling magician character, but I’m hoping to eventually develop a full stage show for her. I’m also pushing myself to see how I can incorporate other skills, like singing or art, to add even more creative twists to what a “magic show” can be. So, stay tuned!
